Here are some hiking ideas in the region. Follow the guide!

Creux-du-Van Nature Reserve*

An incredible natural cirque, the Creux-du-Van offers magnificent hiking opportunities, from simple strolls to more challenging routes.


How to get there
  • by car to the summit, ideal for families
  • by train to Noiraigue (free with the Neuchâtel Tourist Card)
Ideas for walks:
  • along the Creux-du-Van from the summit
  • 14km loop starting from Noiraigue on the Creux-du-Van path (quite a demanding route, about 4h30 walk and significant elevation)
Food & Drinks
  • Le Soliat welcomes you at the top of the Creux-du-Van
  • other restaurants are located along the Creux-du-Van trail

Gorges de l’Areuse*

Follow the course of the river for an enchanting and shady walk.


How to get there
  • going: by train to Champ-du-Moulin or Noiraigue (free with the Neuchâtel Tourist Card)
  • return: by tram from Boudry (free with the Neuchâtel Tourist Card)
Ideas for walks:
  • Noiraigue – Champ-du-Moulin – Boudry : 12km/3h00
  • Champ-du-Moulin – Boudry : 7,5km/2h00, the most beautiful part of the gorge

Fairly easy hikes but not recommended with small children or when the ground is wet (risk of falls).

Lake path*

Explore the shores of Neuchâtel’s lake by following the lake path. Don’t want to retrace your steps? You can easily return to the city by tram, bus or even… boat!

How to get there
  • going: on foot from the hotel
  • return: by tram or bus (free with the Neuchâtel Tourist Card) or by boat.
  • It is also possible to cycle along the lake, you can borrow one free of charge from Neuchatelroule (subject to availability)
Ideas for walks:
  • Heading east or west, both sides of the shore will offer you magnificent views of the lake. Along the way, numerous beaches invite you to swim and relax.
Food & Drinks
  • several restaurants along the shores of the lake
  • possibility of picnicking on a beach
